WILTSHIRE FRIENDLY SOCIETY

INTRODUCTION

Wiltshire Friendly Society commenced in 1828, which means that many members were born before Registration of Births began in 1837. The Records of those joining include considerable information, which varied from time to time and increased in later years. All entrants were given a membership number and other information recorded includes

Other notes (occasionally)

Class or Table — the type of insurance as follows:

TABLE I First Class. Single or monthly contributions for assuring two shillings per week during sickness. Bed-lying pay, and one shilling per week. Walking pay: a weekly allowance of one shilling after the age of 65; and two pounds on death. The monthly contributions and the allowances in Sickness are to cease at the age of 65 years.

TABLE II. First Class. Single or monthly contributions for assuring a weekly allowance of one shilling after having attained the age of 65. The monthly contributions are to cease at the age of 60

TABLE Ill. First Class. Single or monthly contributions for assuring a weekly allowance of one shilling after having attained the age of 70. The monthly contributions are to cease at the age of 65.

TABLE IV. First Class. Single or monthly contributions for assuring a weekly allowance of one shilling after having attained the age of 70. The monthly contributions are to cease at the age of 60.

TABLE V. First Class. Single or monthly contributions for assuring five pounds on death. Monthly contributions are to cease at the age of 65 or at the age of 70 or on death according to the contract

TABLE VI. For the endowment of Children. Monthly contributions for assuring six pounds, twelve pounds, eighteen pounds, twenty four pounds, or thirty pounds on attaining the age of fourteen years; or an annuity of one pound, two pounds, three pounds, four pounds or five pounds to commence after having attained the age of fourteen years, and to cease on baring attained the age of twenty-one years The monthly contributions are to cease at the age of fourteen years.

TABLE VII. For the endowment of Children. Monthly contributions for assuring ten pounds, twenty pounds, thirty pounds, forty pounds or fifty pounds on attaining the age of twenty one sears

TABLE VIII. Lying in. Monthly contributions for assuring one pound, two pounds, four pounds, five pounds at the respective age of 25, 35, 40 and 50. Free in twelve months.
