Book Sales (Non-WFHS Publications)

The Society has a large selection of books which can aid research. They are not published by Wiltshire FHS but by other organisations such as Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) and Society of Genealogists (SOG). Write to Jim and Joyce Lanfear, 12 Southwick Road, North Bradley, Trowbridge, Wilts. BA14 0SD, UK for the full and latest list, or e-mail Jim Lanfear.

WFHS Publications
WFHS has a large ongoing project of transcribing and publishing Wiltshire records. Many are available in book form and many have now been copied onto fiche. Orders should be sent to Wiltshire FHS Publications, 10 Castle Lane, Devizes, SN10 1HJ, UK or for further information e-mail the workroom.
Over the last few years the Society has considerably increased it's range of published works, and this is continuing at an ever increasing pace as the transcribing team increases in number. This in turn is putting increasing strain on the unpaid volunteers who compile, print, publish, and deal with sales. There is also a growing storage problem of all the books and material held. It has therefore been reluctantly decided to curtail the number of books held for sale by limiting the time for which they are available.

Provided the publication is also on fiche, the books will be in print for a period of five years from the first publishing. They will then be withdrawn when stocks run out. For those currently exceeding the five year period, no more will be printed. Fiche will continue to be available.

If you are interested in transcribing records Parish Registers and other documents this is carried out at the Wiltshire & Swindon Record Office, Trowbridge on Fridays 9.15am-2.30pm. Contact John or Beryl Hurley. Tel: 01380 722893 or e-mail John Hurley

WFHS Fiche

Many transcripts have been copied onto fiche, and these are listed on the Publications page. Publications over five years old will be converted to fiche and will only be available in this mode when existing printed stocks run out.
