Copyright

Some groups do not recognise British copyright and have purchased indexes or other publications and are publishing them on the Internet without permission. Some have purchased publications and are advertising them for free lookups. Transcribers give of their own free time to produce the publications for the benefit of all genuine family historians and abuse of their work will inevitably result in these volunteers withdrawing their services. Inevitably the result will be higher costs, fewer transcriptions or at the worst none. The societies involved have complained to these unauthorized users with variable success. If you find any material produced by this Society, or indeed any Society, being misused in such a way, please contact
